SLIDO-2, Statewide Landslide Information Database for Oregon, release 2, by William J. Burns, Katherine A. Mickelson, and Evan C. Saint-Pierre.

One of the most common and devastating geologic hazards in Oregon is landslides. Average annual repair costs for landslides in Oregon exceed $10 million, and severe winter storm losses can exceed $100 million. As population growth continues and development into landslide susceptible terrain occurs, damage and loss from this natural hazard will continue to grow.

DOGAMI created the Statewide Landslide Information Database for Oregon to improve the understanding of landslide hazards in Oregon and to create a statewide base level of landslide data. SLIDO-2 supersedes and includes SLIDO-1 data.

CD-ROM Contents
The publication CD contains:

1. "SLIDOr2_v10.gdb" - Esri ArcView version 10 geodatabase of landslide-related features (landslides, debris/alluvial fans, and colluvium/talus) polygons from 313 studies listed in Appendix A of the report text. The geodatabase consists of:

2. "SLIDOr2_v9.gdb" - ArcView version 9.3 geodatabase; see SLIDOr2_v10.gdb.

3. 35-page SLIDO-2 report text in both onscreen and high-resolution versions.

4. PDF-formatted mapview of SLIDO-2 data in both onscreen and high-resolution versions at 1:750,000 scale (50- by 42-inch plate).

5. PDF-formatted text report that accompanied SLIDO release 1, explaining in detail the methodology used to create the SLIDO-1 database.

The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries is publishing this map because the subject matter is consistent with the mission of the Department. The map is not intended to be used for site specific planning. It may be used as a general guide for emergency response planning. Maps in this publication depict landslide hazard areas on the basis of limited data as described further in the text. The maps cannot serve as a substitute for site-specific investigations by qualified practitioners. Site-specific data may give results that differ from those shown on the maps.
