CONTENTS

Apart from this README file, the contents of the DVD are:

    - “Bare_Earth” – Contains grid and info folders associated with ESRI digital elevation models of bare earth lidar data. Metadata for all data are embedded in grid folders as ESRI FGDC metadata in xml format.

    - "Highest_Hit” – Contains grid and info folders associated with ESRI digital elevation models of bare earth lidar data. Metadata for all data are embedded in grid folders as ESRI FGDC metadata in xml format. 

    - "Intensity" - Contains geoTIFF files associated with intensity images derived from highest hit lidar returns. Metadata for all data are embedded in TIFF header as ESRI FGDC metadata or in the accompanying metadata folder in xml format. Some intensity files have been compressed using .zip format. 2009 intensity data are parsed by 1/100th USGS quadrangle. The 2006 intensity data are parsed by USGS 1:6000 quadrangles. 2007 intensity data are parsed arbitrarily.  2002 coverage does not contain intensity data.

    - "Metadata_XML - XML formatted metadata files listing FGDC metadata for lidar dataset.  Lidar contractor's data report is included.

    - "Shapefiles" – ESRI format geometry files of 7.5 minute USGS quadrangles of Oregon, 1/100th USGS quadrangles of Oregon, as well as 2009 Rogue Valley specific 7.5 minute, 2009 1/100th USGS quadrangles (intensity data), 2007 7.5 minute quadrangles, 2007 intensity index, 2006 7.5 minute quadrangles, 2006 intensity index, and 2002 7.5 minute quadrangles.

    - “about-LDQ-poster-11x17in.pdf" – PDF document contains explanation of USGS tiling schemes associated with lidar data as well general information concerning lidar data.

    - "Lidar_Series_Status_Index_Map" - PDF document showing published DOGAMI lidar series publications.

To view data files:

All data are format specific to ESRI GIS format. Data must be viewed using specialty software capable of viewing .shp, geotif, and ESRI grid formats.

Note: Data projection information can be located within embedded raster metadata file (.prj).

FUNDING

2009 data and data products were collected in whole or part through funding arrangements provided by Grant, Cooperative Agreement, Purchase Order and Intergovernmental and Interagency Agreement between DOGAMI, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the City of Medford.

2007 LiDAR data were funded through the Rogue Valley Council of Governments (RVCOG).  Data have been clipped and resampled to minimize overlap with more recent (2009) data.

2006 LiDAR data were funded by the US Forest Service. Data have been clipped to minimize overlap with more recent data.

2002 LiDAR data were funded by the Bureau of Land Management.  Data have been clipped to minimize overlap with more recent data.
