The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) hosted the Coastal Hospital Special Leadership Event on March 20 and 21, 2018, in Newport, Oregon. This leadership event was organized by OHA, Healthcare Preparedness Liaisons from Regions 1, 2, and 3, and the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) and was co-sponsored by the Cascadia Region Earthquake Workgroup (CREW.org).

This event was the first time coastal hospital executives and their partners from Regions 1, 2, and 3 were brought together. Invitations were extended to persons representing:

At the event, information published by DOGAMI about the science and impacts of Cascadia earthquakes and tsunamis was distributed. CREW fact sheets on how to prepare employees, how to prepare for non-structural damage, how to prepare for business continuity, and lessons to businesses from past earthquakes were shared. Resilience planning maps prepared by DOGAMI for three hospitals were displayed.
